Recipe Weekend!

Hey Guys!

So my dishes from last week were savory, filling, and delicious! I hope you tried something new. If not then get on board this weekend and let’s figure it out together. Now all I need to do is decide what to make…and NO guys, I’m not going to be making a Mexican dish. I know I blog about it a lot because that is my favorite style, but I think this time I am going to try some Chinese! When I think about my favorite Chinese dishes I think, lo mein, orange chicken, rice, and EGG ROLLS. Well considering most places fill their food with MSGs and other ingredients we are ridding from our bodies I want to make a health egg roll bowl! I am so excited about this dish. It’s fun, new, easy to make, and full of flavor! This recipe is a little more involved with the ingredients, however, I sometimes get bored with the chicken, broccoli, and mushrooms recipes so I’m going a little more this time. Feel free, though, to make it the way you like! Try it out with me and let me know what you think. Remember to make it fun and cooking will be that much more enjoyable!

INGREDIENTS

  1. ½ small green cabbage, sliced

  2. ½ small red cabbage, sliced

  3. 1 carrot, shredded

  4. 1 small sweet onion, chopped

  5. 5 garlic cloves, minced

  6. 1 lb ground beef or turkey

  7. 1 pkg sliced mushrooms

  8. 1 Tbsp coconut oil

  9. 1 tsp sesame oil

  10. ½ cup coconut aminos (or tamari sauce)

  11. 1 tsp ground ginger

  12. sliced green onions

  13. sesame seeds (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare all ingredients by thinly slicing cabbage and chopping onion.

  2. In a large skillet cook ground meat. Once browned drain and set aside.

  3. In the same skillet, add coconut oil and sesame oil to a large skillet and heat over medium heat.

  4. Once hot, add onion and cook until softened and translucent.

  5. Add mushrooms and garlic continue cooking until softened.

  6. Meanwhile mix coconut aminos and ground ginger together.

  7. Add to mushroom, onion mixture and mix.

  8. Once mixed add in cabbage, carrots and bean sprouts. Cook until slightly softened stirring often.

  9. Add back in sausage and heat through.

  10. Place in bowls.

  11. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
